Cooking and eating should not be complicated or stressful. A healthy diet is high in legumes, grains, veggies, fruits and healthy fats. As a rough guide, you should be aiming for days of food that include;
5 or more serves of vegetables (lots of it green, lots of it raw, lots of different colours)
2 or more serves of fruit (lots of colours)
3 or more servings of legumes (best to try to get some legumes into most meals)
3 or more servings of whole grains (adjust according to your energy needs)
1 or more serving nuts and seedsÂ
I made this collection of recipes for my two beautiful sons, the songbird and the jay bird, in case they eventually want to replicate some of the meals that they loved, and some they didn't love that much, growing up. I hope the ideas and recipes here, that have been stolen, borrowed, adjusted, poorly recreated and discussed at length, will help you to find the peace and happiness that simple food can bring.
